NOTES ON THEME:

Taking inspiration from Greek mythology and the original nine muses, Modern Muses: Issue 002 seeks to answer a timeless yet timely question: What exactly makes a muse? And more importantly, who are the next forces of influence shaping our generation through poetry, art, culture, and music?

Muses are more than symbols of beauty. They are catalysts of creativity, inspiration, and cultural momentum. This issue explores how we create today, and where we still find traces of fantasy, whimsy, and wonder in a world often grounded in digital noise and realism.

We revisit the muses of our childhood—unicorns, fairies, princesses, mermaids, and knights—not as distant fantasies, but as timeless archetypes. What happens when these stories grow up with us? How have we modernized magic?

HOW DO I SUBMIT?

You can submit any body of work to be published in print to thediariescollective@gmail.com !! Submissions can be any form of artwork ranging from poetry and prose, photography, styling, graphic design, music, articles, etc.

Guidelines for Submissions:

  • should take inspiration from the theme

  • writing pieces are between 1000-1500 words (poems can be shorter)

  • if submissions are graphics, they must be scanned in for ensured quality
